Predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques involve a systematic method of monitoring the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when maintenance should be performed and costly breakdowns can be avoided.

A properly set-up vibration program is essential for the success of condition monitoring. If it is not established with clear objectives and goals in mind, the client runs the risk of not meeting the expectations of others or not being able to justify the expense of the program.
